These aren't advertisements, just stuff I want more people to know about.

The Diva Cup is an alternative to tampons. It's re-usable and lasts ten years. According to my calculations, you could save over $1,200 in tampon costs over ten years, as well as avoiding throwing away more than 1,200 tampons. There are almost no leaks, so you avoid the excessive costs and waste of pantyliners or pads as well. The earth will thank you. (I've been using one of these for a few months now. People tend to them to be very uncomfortable, but they're not at all, unless you put it in incorrectly. It's really not that gross to deal with your own bodily functions, and it's awesome not to have to run to the store for tampons and create unecessary garbage. I've used like six pads in the past four months.)

If you're not down with re-using the same cup for ten years, try the Instead Softcup. You only use them once, again you'll avoid the cost and waste of pantyliners or pads, and you can have sex while wearing one. They aren't biodegradable, but you can wear them for more than twice as long as you could tampons, so you're still creating less waste.

I think The Republic of Tea's teabags are great not only because of delicious and unique flavors (Ginger Peach, Pomegranate Green Tea, Vanilla Coconut?! OMG!) but also because of their company's ethics, ideals and environmental consciousness. Props to The Republic of Tea for their round, unbleached bags that are free of unnecessary strings, paper and staples. Celestial Seasonings deserves a mention for their great flavors and teabags that do not use unnecessary strings, paper or staples.

Dryer balls do the job that dryer sheets have been doing for years, but these cuties are reusable for years. Works for people who are allergic to fabric softeners or who don't want to throw away countless dryer sheets. You can get them from dryerballs.net, and I believe you can get Nellie's brand at Target, or from their website.
